They were young, they stole. If someone was walking around the village, from our village, if a 2- or 3-year-old bull was walking around, it would disappear, it would disappear in one evening. Border guards were with us, in our village, they had land with us and they also had cows. They had a cow tied up next to them that was being milked, next to a house there, where no one lived. And three people gathered and they went and slaughtered the cow. When in the morning they were supposed to come to milk the cow, it wasn’t there. They called everywhere, phones existed, they went everywhere to track who was coming by boat, because only by boat was it taken. And as the boat was approaching Sulina, these border guards were there, they saw them and stopped them. The cow was already portioned and they were bringing it here for sale. And what do you think they did? They paid that cow, they didn’t even do prison time and what happened to them? One hanged himself, another died and one is still walking around the village, woe to his life.
