Still life
In the hierarchy of subject types for art established in the 17th century by the French Academy, still life was ranked at the bottom: fifth after history painting, portraits, genre painting (scenes from everyday life) and landscape. Still life and landscape were considered modest because they did not involve a human subject.
It is true that no people appear in the photos in this section. But they all contain signs of human presence.
