“There’s no one to make a movie with.”

“There’s no one to make a movie with.”

Tincuța Ciobanu, local, Letea, Danube Delta

I don’t know what film I would make, to put it bluntly. But you don’t have, you don’t have anyone to make a film with. Because everyone is old, everyone is old, the youth are rarer. What film should I make? How people sit on the bench, how two, three women go to church, because the youth don’t go. That’s it. I don’t have anything else, I don’t have anyone to make a film with. Who should I make a film with? In Rosetti [village] we don’t have anyone, because there… In Rosetti there really are a lot of employees. There is a town hall and there are a lot of employees and pensioners. But not here. The mayor is from our the village, the deputy mayor is from here, from the village. The deputy mayor lives next door to me. But, the rest, no. In the village we don’t have anyone to make a film with because everyone is old, pensioners, old people who walk on crutches, who use sticks. I wouldn’t make a film. What should I make a film with? With the horses in the forest? There used to be a lot of animals. In the forest when you were going, deers used to stay next to you. But now because of the jackals, there isn’t one. There isn’t a rabbit anymore, the poor thing. The jackals ate our cows and calves and they ate everything. All, all, all. Did you hear how they howl at night? Maybe you heard them? They howl, they come into the yard, they eat people’s chickens. They eat the calves in the yard. And they have no owner. I can’t figure out why they don’t exterminate them. I don’t know why. Protect them, why are you protecting them, because they eat people. If you go at night, God forbid, they eat you, they attack you. What should I film with? With jackals? I’d go at night and film their eyes shining. We don’t have anyone to film with.
